Sony’s new INZONE line of gaming gear headsets is aimed at both PC and PlayStation players

Sony is literally gearing up with its new INZONE gear brand targeting both PC and PlayStation players. It is the first to serve as the basis for the announcement of three new Sony IZONE headsets that will leverage the company’s “expertise as a pioneer in audiovisual technology, with features that fully immerse gamers in the action”.

Interestingly, these come directly from Sony and are not under the PlayStation flag – although the visual design is purely PlayStation. Targeting PC also means this is an absolute big game as it will allow Sony to enter the highly competitive PC audio space where several brands have found success over the years. Sony has a long history of focusing on high-quality audio, and the goal here is to deliver gaming audio that’s perfect for the competitive and esports scene.

In addition, they can take advantage of the excellent spatial/surround found on PlayStation 5 (on PC it’s called 360 Spatial Sound) and the industry-leading active noise cancellation found on Sony headphones. In that regard, the INZONE headsets feature the same Dual Noise Sensor technology used in Sony 1000X series headphones.

The headsets come in three flavors and will be available in Australia from late July 2022.

In addition to out-of-the-box “Perfect for PlayStation 5” functionality, the PC side is supported with Sony’s INZONE Hub PC software for in-depth customization.

“The market is expanding with increased interest in gaming with the proliferation of esports tournaments and the advancement of gaming entertainment,” said Yukihiro Kitajima, head of Game Business and Marketing Office, Sony Corporation. “With Sony’s strong history of high-end audio and visual technology products, we believe this new line will open up even more options for those looking to upgrade their current gaming systems. We aim to contribute to the growth of gaming culture through PC gaming. and PlayStation gamers with a wider range of options to enrich lives through gaming.”

With PlayStation games coming to PC in a big way lately (and Spider-Man on the way), the addition of hardware no doubt confirms Sony’s commitment to the future platform.
