There is no lack of IP crossovers in recent years, most notably from Warner Bros. Room Disturbance 2 was actually WB’s crossover Comic-Con, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be stopping anytime soon. On the side of the game they have Multiversewhere DC superheroes will battle alongside Cartoon Network and HBO characters in a Super Smash Bros. equal. And next year they have another crossover movie to join people like Teen Titans Go/DC Super Hero Girls and Batman/TMNT

On Friday, Rooster Teeth announced at their annual RTX event that their YA anime series RWBY (pronounced “ruby”, after the main character) gets his first feature film. Based on the RWBY/Justice League comedy miniseries by Marguerite Bennett, Mirka Andolfo and Aneke released in 2021, the movie of the same name will see the main characters of the show – monster killers Ruby Rose (Lindsay Jones), Weiss Schnee (Kara Eberle), Blake Belladonna (Arryn Zech) , and Yang Xiao Long (Barbara Dunkelman) – cross paths with the Justice League. Or rather, the League’s equivalent in their universe; Since the anime features half-human/half-animal called Faunus, some DC characters will be redesigned with that in mind. For example, Batman and Aquaman are part bat and part fish respectively in this universe, which mainly translates into having physical characteristics to signify as such. Otherwise, the heroes look pretty much like you’d expect in a YA science fantasy anime.

The RWBY/Justice League crossover film is being handled by the same production team currently working on the show’s upcoming ninth season. A first look at the new season (which you can see.) here!) was screened at the same panel that announced the crossover movie; both the movie and the new season will be released sometime next year. At the moment, season nine would not be released until early 2023, while RWBY/JL does not have a specific release window. Meanwhile, fans of the show can watch the Ice Queendom anime on Crunchyroll. It’s meant to be a retelling of the show’s original three seasons that RT has made in collaboration with Studio SHAFT, best known for record magic, and March comes in like a lion. To be first episode will premiere to the masses on Sunday, July 3, with the remaining 11 episodes premiering on sunday
