Maryland Announces Deal With SECU, Including New Stadium Name

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Maryland’s football stadium will be renamed next month.

The athletics department announced on Friday a partnership with SECU, a state-chartered credit union, including renaming the venue SECU Stadium from Oct. 1. It is currently called Capital One Field in Maryland Stadium.

SECU is guaranteed to pay Maryland Athletics $11 million, including a $2.5 million grant to support programs and facilities. That includes building a basketball performance center. The partnership is for 10 years.

The school said Capital One and Maryland Athletics mutually agreed to terminate their current agreement.
