A man was shot and injured Friday in a $1,000 marijuana deal in Azalea-Hollywood Park, but was able to flee on his own and call police.

According to OnScene.TV, the male driver of a Toyota had planned to buy a pound of marijuana from a dealer, whom he went to meet at an apartment building on Sumac Drive and Juniper Street.

But instead of selling the marijuana, the dealer tried to rob the victim of the money.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic man, six feet tall, dressed all in black, pulled out a pistol and fired five shots at the victim. Three bullets hit the victim’s car and hit him in the leg.

The victim fled and drove to the Shell Gas Station at Home and Fairmount Avenues, where he called the San Diego Police Department.

Officers found the victim and medics took him to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
