Man, 19, seriously injured in North York shooting: Toronto police

A 19-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after a shooting in North York.

The incident happened shortly before 10 p.m. near Willowdale and Church Avenue.

In a tweet, Toronto police said officers at the scene found a man who “had multiple gunshot wounds”. His injuries appeared serious, they said.

Ambulance personnel transported the victim via an emergency loop to a trauma center.

Speaking with CP24 on site, Acting Duty Insp. Roger Desrochers said police received several calls from people reporting hearing gunshots near Willowdale and Church Street.

He said several officers, along with paramedics, ran to the area where they found a 19-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.

Desrochers said the victim is cooperating with police.

He said police are currently speaking with the victim and are searching the area to determine exactly what happened.

“We are still unclear about what happened here tonight,” Desrochers said, adding that police believe this is an “isolated situation” and not concerned about public safety.
