Knott’s Scary Farm offers free ticket for some adult chaperones

Knott’s Berry Farm, which banned unaccompanied minors after a series of fights involving teens over the summer, announced Wednesday that adults accompanying groups of minors to the after-hours Halloween event can receive a free ticket.

Beginning Thursday, any chaperone visiting Knott’s Scary Farm in the Buena Park theme park with five minors will receive free admission to use that same evening.

The theme park implemented the chaperone policy after multiple fights broke out and the park had to close three hours early in July. Some of the fighting was captured on video posted to social media showing guards getting caught up in the melee and customers fleeing for safety.

Park officials described the policy as “well received” and extended it to Friday, Saturday and Sunday and every event night at Knott’s Scary Farm through Oct. 31.

Escorts must be at least 21 years old and present a valid photo ID. There is a limit of one free ticket for five minors.
