The former government did not have a “functional and effective” immigration system in Australia, Home Secretary Clare O’Neil said.

“And that’s why we have masses of people across the country who are in some kind of uncertainty,” she told Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

‚ÄúThese people can contribute to the country, or they have no right to be here and let’s kick them out of the country.

“The problem with the former government was a sense of laziness and sluggishness about how they managed this system, and we want to do better.”
