Evacuate order now for major flooding in North Moree as NSW braces for wet weekend

An evacuation order was issued Friday evening for North Moree in NSW due to dangerous major flooding.

The NSW SES issued the warning around 8pm and comes as the state braces for a weekend of even more wet weather.

“You must evacuate now as flooding of properties is expected overnight from Friday to Saturday to Saturday,” the warning said.

Evacuation centers have been set up at the Moree PCYC on Boston Street.

Widespread thunderstorms threaten large parts of New South Waleswith communities bracing for flash floods in the coming days.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued more than 20 weather warnings.

Heavy rain, damaging winds and large hailstones were expected Friday night.

The wet weather is expected to continue into the weekend and into next week.
