Birmingham [UK]July 28 (ANI): Indian spin bowler Radha Yadav said on Wednesday that it is very exciting for her to participate in the Commonwealth Games as a cricket group.
The Indian women’s cricket team arrived in Birmingham on Monday. Women’s cricket will be played for the first time at the multi-sport event.
“I’m very excited. I’ve been watching CWG since I was a kid. It’s exciting to participate in the event as a cricket group,” Yadav said while interacting with the media.
India is about to play two high profile matches, with the tournament opener against Australia and the next against arch-rival Pakistan. About playing these two games with two great teams, she said: “All the teams in T20I are good, we want to give our best in every game.
Talking about the brand of cricket under coach Ramesh Powar, Yadav said the team is looking forward to improving a little bit every day.
“As a cricketer, we improve every day. He has helped us, especially me with bowling. I have improved under him. It was nice working with him. We want to set a standard. To make Indian cricket better, we will work hard. work,” she added.
Yadav said the team wants to keep a simple mentality and go match by match.
Yadav thanked Indian fans for their consistent support everywhere.
Asked whether as a cricketer she didn’t compete in multi-sport events like CWG or Olympics, she said: “Yes, we felt that. Wearing that medal and hearing your national anthem in the stadium is a different feeling. I wanted to experience that. It will be a great moment when we win that medal and hear our national anthem.” The 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games will be held from 28th July to 8th August. The cricket tournament on the multi-sport event will start from July 29. (ANI)
