Australia’s ‘damaging’ international relations ‘is not in our country’s interest’

Opposition leader Peter Dutton says damaging Australia’s international relations – particularly with Israel – is not in the country’s interest.

Mr Dutton’s comments come after Foreign Secretary Penny Wong announced that Labor would reverse Australia’s recognition of West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

“To the Jewish community here in Australia they were rightfully offended and upset by the decision that Labor made because they lied about it, it was deceptive,” Dutton told Sky News presenter Peter Gleeson.

“It was another broken promise, and I think that’s what shocked people the most.”
