Tom Cruise also kicked off his birthday with the packed concert, which started with the hit single Hello and ended with When We Were Young.

The Top Gun actor, who turns 60 today, was offered a cake after going backstage after the performance, with Adele singing Happy Birthday to him. An onlooker said: ‘Tom had a ball, it was the perfect way to celebrate his big birthday. He seemed touched that so many people wished him well for his special day.’

The Hollywood superstar will continue the festivities today at the Grand Prix at Silverstone alongside film producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who is researching Formula 1 for an upcoming film to be shown on Apple TV.

On Friday, Adele also paid tribute to the mutual friend in the crowd who introduced her to Paul, with whom she now lives in LA.

The singer confessed on stage that she is in love with the 40-year-old multi-millionaire basketball agent, whom she started dating last year, adding that she was “obsessed”.
