2022 Golden Melody Festival Facilitates Music X Film X Gaming Talks

TAIPEIJune 29, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Golden Melody Festival’s Series of Events operated by Taiwan Television Enterprise officially closed on June 26† This year, exhibitions were organized around two themes: Music X Drama and Music X Games. Golden Melody Festival events include international conferences, workshops, corporate matchmaking events, a GMA SHOWCASE concert, and a biz matching program. The events attracted people from the music, film and game industries. International speakers attended many of the events via video conference and shared with their colleagues Taiwan, their practical experiences abroad and the industrial landscape. OST Yeram LIM by South Korea’s CJ ENM, CEO Mark Frieser of the US Sync Summit, and chairman Gary Calamara from GO Music shared their experiences with making film music. Garry Schyman, an award-winning American composer, dissected the background of game music and gave master’s workshop students a professional critique of their work. In addition to many top professionals in Taiwanese film and game industry, Garry Schyman also explored his experiences and challenges in creating music and integrating scores with film. Their discussions were invaluable to the participants. A total of 259 companies attended the ALV 2022.

The GMA SHOWCASE Concert, much anticipated by music lovers, was a three-day celebration. Mixer, winner of the Best Band Award at the 25th GMA, kicked off the first day with an invigorating performance. Vocalist Wu Shenghao said they were “incredibly honored to return to Kaohsiung for the Golden Melody Festival and happy that the world gets to see a little more of Kaohsiung.” In 2022, Mixer also welcomed their tenth anniversary with a surprising announcement: a new album and concert in the works. Known for her lazy vocals, ?te revealed she’s still looking forward to her first performance at a music festival abroad, shouting onstage, “Give me a change!” Cosmospeople, who had been out of the stage lighting for a while, were particularly excited about their performance at the GMA SHOWCASE Concert and announced that they will be giving a concert at the end of the year, also in Kaohsiung. On the second day, the duo JADE delivered seven songs in their stunning performance on stage and expressed their gratitude to music festivals in Taiwan: “The current landscape of Taiwanese bands has been nourished by .’s many excellent music festivals TaiwanNative singer Sauljaljui opened her performance with a nose flute solo and invited the audience to sing with her in her native language. Sauljaljui unleashed her musical prowess and used four different instruments during her performance. She concluded her performance with “Singing for Each Other”, a light-hearted yet moving song. The latter was nominated for Best Band – Flesh Juicer. When asked about their nomination, all five members said they were “very happy”. Flesh Juicer closed the second day with a catchy performance full of captivating videos and stunning lights.

OVDS opened the third day with an enlivening performance, saying that “the GMA has promoted the music industry in Taiwan for a very long time and continued to propel musicians forward. It is a very valuable award. Last year’s GMA nomination led us to reassess why we first became musicians. Last but not least, Sweet John from Tainan closed the show with their natural vocals. The band showed interest in performing in Japan and shared their disappointment with their postponed concert Australia† Finally, they expressed a desire to meet their fans as soon as possible. In addition to musicians and bands from Taiwanthe GMA also invited Saji from Hokkaido, Japanfrom Bonander Swedenand Paolo Sandejas from the Philippines to perform online for the audience of the Golden Melody Festival. The three musicians were recommended by global strategic alliance partners and delivered incredible performances.
